How To Pitch Around Good Hitters When Needed

There may be times during the baseball season when the coach asks you to pitch around a good hitter. There may be runners in scoring position and first base is open, so you want to be extra careful so as not to give the hitter a good pitch to hit and drive in runs.

As a pitcher, your mentality should be to make the hitter hit YOUR pitch. You're trying to draw a swing without  laying it up.

Breaking balls off the plate are good pitches here, especially if the hitter is aggressive (which most good hitters are). The most important thing, though, is to keep everything out of his strong hitting zones, giving him absolutely nothing good to hit. Paint the corners!
