For Little Leaguers: Which pitching grips are most important?

The latest issue of "The Coach's Box," the monthly email newsletter published by Little League Baseball, has a nice article about pitching grips. Notice how there's no info about the curve ball? That's because the fastball and changeup are the only two pitches you should be working on at this age.

Develop your fastball early. Use the changeup to keep hitters off balance. Don't waste your pitches on the curve. You'll regret it later in your career when you can't throw 90 mph because you didn't spend enough time throwing the fastball in your youth. No pitcher selected in the first round of the 2007 MLB draft throws less than 90 mph. You can learn that curve ball later in your career, after you've signed your big contract. Keep on developing your fastball right now! You do this by throwing it.
